Surprise

My baby shower was a couple of weeks back and I received a huge surprise. About 4 pm the day of the shower I got a knock at the door. I just thought it was the neighbor kids wondering if the girls could play. When I opened it though no one was there. After a couple of seconds Angie pops out from around the corner followed by Diane.  I of coarse started to cry and shake (they teased me later about my reaction and I said, "What do you expect when you surprise an 8 month pregnant woman like that.")  They flew in from California together and I couldn't have been more excited.  They didn't get to stay very long because they both have families they needed to get home to but we made the most of the short time they had here.
Thanks John and Dad for holding down the home front, making it possible for them to come!

Seaside Oregon trip

Aaron's parents reserved a condo in Seaside for a week this year. The girls were so excited and have been talking about it for months.  We were able to spend about 3 days with them and had such a blast.  The weather could have been a little warmer, (we've have an unusually wet and cool spring), but we had one day of sunny weather and just made the most out of our time together.

Thanks Gary and Lynette!

The girls had so much fun riding on the carousel.  I get too dizzy so dad was a trooper and rode with them
There was a small but fun aquarium where you could feed seals, touch some sea life, and look at some very interesting fish, an octopus, crabs, etc. Brooklyn had so much fun touching all the creatures, but Anna wasn't quite so sure about it. She left that up to Brook.

Brooklyn loved the "slimy star fish"

The water was so cold. Dad was fun and took the girls out to frolic in the water.
I took pictures :)

In front of where we stayed

The heated pool was a huge hit

Dad found Brookie a huge sand crab and even Anna held it.

Gary and Aaron flying the kite. It was a great beach for kite flying and I think we had the coolest one there.....a huge dragon
I hesitate to post this picture but I wanted to document the 34 week belly.

 At our picnic lunch

One day we decided to drive down the coast about and hour and tour tillamook cheese factory.  They have the best ice cream and I would say it was definitely worth the drive.

One of the nice things about our new house is that we live on a quiet street where the girls can play and ride bikes with little or no traffic.  A few of the other little girls on the street ride without training wheels and this past weekend Anna informed us that she wanted to learn to ride without the training wheels.  Aaron took them off and after a couple small wipe outs and some apprehension on her part, she got it!  In one afternoon she went from training wheels to riding around like a pro.  The best part was seeing her confidence in learning to do something new.  Anna tends to get frustrated very easy and wants to give up, so it was so wonderful to see her struggle a little and keep trying until she got it.

Brooklyn's 4 year well child visit was anything but smooth. When we got there and found out that she had an ear infection, & sinus infection. The pediatrician (who I don't really care for anyway) proceeded to do a lengthy inhaler treatment followed by an ear wax removal,  (which they billed me $69 dollars for. WHAT?!? She pretty much took tiny tweezers and picked out a tiny bit of wax. It took 2 seconds) and on top of that, everything else that they do at a well child visit.  After about 1 1/2 hours at the office, Brooklyn was done! So was I frankly.  Just as we were about to leave the nurse informed me that they forgot to do the vision screen.  They proceeded with the test and Brooklyn did not do well. I chalked it up to her being tired and just wanting to go.

I realized a few weeks later that we have a yearly eye exam covered under our insurance, so I made the girls their first eye appointments.  They were both great at the appointment.  The doctor commented that they were some of the best behaved kids that he had seen.  Anyhow,  we did find out though that indeed Brooklyn's eyes needed a little help. She is far sighted in one eye and has an astigmatism. Big sister was so jealous that she didn't need any. The doctor said it was a good thing that we caught it as early as we did. He said most parents don't think to take their kids in, and parents don't realize that kids can't see until they are struggling in school because they can't see the board or the letters all blur together when they try to read.

She picked out some glasses that she liked (Purple with small butterflies and rhinestones on the side) and she has been doing wonderful with them.  I was worried that they were going to bother her and she would constantly be wanting to take them off but she has done great.

Yee-Haw!!!!

Last week my dear friend Rachel came over and helped me sew the crib skirt for the babies room. To be compleatly honest, she pretty much did the whole thing. I cut a little, measured and ironed but she was the brains behind it.  It only took us about 4 hours but I think it was so worth it.
We did a small pleat in the front and then had the other sides just hang straight.  I love a ruffle for a girl but this was perfect for our little guy.  I bought 3 yards of fabric and had plently left over to make some burp cloths or other things for the room.

7 weeks to go!
